What's New

9-21-2003 Well the international festival in Altus was big success for us. We took 1st place in the Rock category. The prize was cash and 10 hours of recording studio time in OKC....pretty cool, huh? Sooooo, this means a demo cd is on the horizon, which will be downloadable from this site soon....

Hey, we snatched Carlos Curat to play the drums for us this weekend at Cheles.....Thanks dude, you're a life saver...

9-28-2003 Special thanx to Gary, the owner of Cheles. The OK hog rally was in town, and we had a great weekend. We made alot of new biker friends. Tiger Mike, you're a great dancer, can hardly wait till next time ha ha. Paula, whew! Amy, thanx for the National Anthem, you ever thought of singing in a band? hint, hint... Thanx to Julie, Wendy, Chewy and all of our friends, new and old, for the undying support. Carlos came through with flying colors, I owe you man... And to the mystery singers, you guys did great. The waitresses and bartenders deserve a big thank you for putting up with our constant coke and shot requests and harassment.... Last but not least, Tommy, Ray's bro, you need to get a set, you're a really good drummer... I hope everyone had as good a time as we did, until the next party......adios

10-19-2003  The Magic Rock gig was interesting to say the least. Happy birthday Wayne and Sherry, and a special thanx to Dean from AA Bottom for singin a couple of songs with us. The guys from MR. MEANER rocked the house with some perfectly executed blues. Thanx to all our friends for coming out and supporting us, even though we played an unexpected 3 piece gig due to a last minute bail by Wil (who is no longer with us). James stepped up and finished the night like a true professional, thanx dude. Carlos, our adopted drummer, rocked as usual. Thanx Carlos for everything, you're a life saver, and kinda funny too....he he he. Ronnie H., nothin but compliments on the sound....thanx dude. Thanks to our fans.... Jackie (hang in there kid), Wendy (she got me wet..oh my), Helen and her better half, ha ha, Leesa and crew, Loyd  & Sally(thanx for the tequila), Susan (thanx for the whiskey), Julie, Big Mark ( I know, we suck lol ), the solid gold dancers, the girl that danced on stage and jammed with me with her air guitar, and  the bartenders and waitresses, all of our new friends, and everyone else I didn't mention, you know who you are... See ya at Trader Toms halloween night. Be safe, Rick.

10-31-2003  Being our first "official" 3 piece gig, Trader Toms went reasonably well. We had a few hiccups in the sound, but Ronnie fixed those quickly and efficently as usual, and all went as planned. Thanx to the V & V association for partying with us, and the waitresses and bartenders and Tom and his wife for having us, we'll see you next time. Congrats to Cap'n caveman and his woman for winning the cruise for the best costume....That's about it........See you at Jiggs on the 14 & 15.......

11-17-2003  Jiggs was a blast... We had some friends come down from OKC Brian and Brian, Robin and Patricia, you guys are party animals, and thanx for the condom Patricia...he he he Special thanx to Mac from the "Smokin Okies" for saving us from a drum machine evening...lol Staci and Melissa were extraordinarily effecient and friendly as usual.. Teresa, James told me to tell you he DOES like you...he's gonna kill me.. Kudos to the bunch from Marlow, good luck with the new bar... A big Sleeper salute to the USMC.... All our biker friends, hey Hammer, I hate everything about you.... Thanx Julie, Janice, Kathy and Teresa for your undying support. Hey Bonar, thanx for the backup vocals, killer dude... Thanks to Jiggs himself for having us...by the way, was I the only one who saw the rather unattractive cross-dresser????? ALERT!! Carlos is missing!! well, he's not answering my phone calls anyway. If anyone has any info on his whereabouts, could you let us know, we're kinda worried about him...thanx. We're gonna take some time off to learn some new songs and secure a full time drummer, stay tuned for details.

1-17-2004  Happy new year everyone, no, we didn't play new years eve due to our drummer situation. But don't fret, we're still looking and should be back in business soon. Just check back once in a while. Thanx, Rick.
That's it for now......later

2-09-2004  Alan Krone, our original SLEEPER drummer, is leaving Lawton and heading to Texas. He wanted to play here one more time before he left, so James, Rick and Alan are gonna reunite for one last gig at Jiggs the 13th and 14th. All musicians are welcome to come and jam.(Everyone else too...) See ya there...

2-15-2004  As usual, Jiggs was alot of fun. We all had a blast and we all wish Alan the best of luck down south. Rick nursed his throat all weekend due to a cold, but managed to sqeek it out. Thanx to everyone who came out and we'll keep you advised on the ongoing drummer search. Till next time......

6-5-2004  Finally, the band is put together.
Burneal and Ray have been practicing with us for a couple of months, and we should be out in July sometime. Thanx everyone for being sooooo patient. We'd like to say thanx to a couple of friends: Rusty Shannon (our new manager) and Hazel Shannon (his mom) for providing a rehearsal place.

Keep an eye on this site for future gig dates, we'll see you there...

NEWS FLASH! SLEEPER AWAKES at Jiggs

8-30-2004  OUR FIRST GIG! as the new and improved, tastes great, less filling, SLEEPER. Jiggs was mucho fun as usual, even though Friday night was a tad bit rough (virgin shakes...lol) The band rocked the house with the help of a few of our friends: Karen came out and did a wonderful heckling job..lol Nope, not gonna post the pic Karen. Dee was unusally friendly... Mmmmmm, new groupie..LOL Ray's family came out both nights and we even had Mac and Wes from the Smokin Okies out. Danny H., Rick's former band mate from Pound Salt, and his lovely bride Janie, was there, and of course, the beautiful and talented bartenders and waitresses, who kept the juices flowing without interruption... Anybody we failed to mention, sorry, just slap me around at the next gig and I won't forget...LOL Till the next one, Peace out...

P.S. Here are some pics we thought you'd find interesting...

9-20-2004  OUR SECOND GIG! (ok, I promise to not do that after Cheles...he he he) First, I'd like to say thanks to everyone who came out and rocked with us, here goes: Coletta, Linda, Regina, Mike and Liz, Mrs. Fick (Shiela), Rays mom, grandma, and sis, all the folks I didn't get to meet, Jiggs for havin us....again, and Last but definately not least the bartenders, Charlette and Amy, and the lovely and talented waitress Mandy (smile), for taking such good care of our and the crowds liquid intake requirements...lol Thanx to Ronnie and his lovely assistant Vicki and thanx to SLEEPER for showing up....ha ha A good time was had by all, and now I'm gonna shut up, I'm rambling... well, maybe not, yes, I'm sure I'm rambling.....SEE YA at Cheles.. Later Gator

10-04-2004  We'd like to thank Gary and Jamie for having us this weekend. The OK. H.O.G. rally came through town and partied with us (of course the $1.25 longnecks helped..lol) Regina and Lori graced us with their "stage presence" and unique vocal styles, not to mention filling Rick up with beer during most of the songs...he he he and danced for each of the three front guys, mmmmmm interesting, hope we got some pics of that!

Oh yeah, Happy Bday to Jamie, the phenominal bartender, and thanx to all the lovely waitresses. Saturday showed us that women still like to dance dirty, even if it is with themselves. That little brunette that danced on the stage with each of us was H.O.T. and I didn't think it was possible to make James blush...LOL Didn't catch any names, but whoa!!! Lookin good... . Overall, it was a great weekend and everyone seemed to have a good time. Well, that's about it for now, we'll see ya at Jiggs on the 15th and 16th, till then , be safe.

10-17-2004  Jiggs was a blast, I think it was the busiest I've seen it in a long time. Thanx to all the folks that came out and partied with us. Julie, Theresa, Monica, Lori, Melissa, Marion (hey, I never got your number...lol), Suzie, Shantel, Ray's family and his aunt, and a whole lot of new faces. We wish Mario all the best as he heads to North Carolina, and thanx to all the ladies who danced, you know we like to watch...he he he. Everyone showed alot of love for Mario, oh and a big happy birthday to Anette Johnson, I heard she turned 112...LOL Everyone be safe, and we'll see ya at the Magic Rock on the 6th... Later

11-1-2004  The second annual 'Gard-a-palooza' (aka Josh & Shawns private halloween bash) was the best party I think I have ever seen. Over 100 guests in various halloween attire partying and rockin out with the band. They had everything for the avid partier: the liquor luge, keg beer, liquor-o-plenty, soda, grilled food and lots of hot chicks.... The cops came out 3 times, and ended up with a $350 ticket, so you know we were havin way too much fun. The 'Free Mammogram' machine was my favorite costume, but the 'T38's on a stick' ended up winning the costume contest. We had a special guest appearance by Beetlejuice and Axle Rose, a Marx brother, a genie, and a sexy NYFD gal..(wooohooo) plus too many more to mention.

Thanx again Josh and Shawn for havin us out, and good luck with everything. Hope to see you next year. Well, guess that's about it for now, see you at Magic Rock this next weekend... till then, be safe and peace out...

11-8-2004  I love playin in Texas. The Magic Rock gig was alot of fun, but too short. One night just isn't enough, I'm gonna have to talk to Wayne about that. Anyway, we saw a bunch of our old runnin buddies from the Hubcap, and as usual they gave us a hard time, but we loved it. Lesa made sure to initiate Ray and Burny, and even walked into the mens bathroom while James was busy, and gave him a kiss and a hug!! LOL Blue eyes was there bartending, and Ladonna, as usual, was there with Lesa. We made some new friends (Hi Cendy...wink), and as usual, I don't remember all the names, but you know who you are.. One of our new friends, Steve, enlightened us with his philisophical "bullshit" (his words) and reminded us all what it was like to have our first beer...LOL Everyone seems to think we should advertise as "L.A.Zone" (our old name) to get more people out to hear us, but I think they'll come around eventually. Some folks just don't like change.....lol Everyone there said we sounded great and had a good time, so we'll take that as a good start. I can't wait for the next one.... Jiggs is next, see ya'll there....

11-22-2004  In memory of Donna... You were truly loved   Jiggs was the place chosen for Donna's wake, and what started out as an emotional tribute with singing and sharing of memories (by Donna's friends) turned into a wild and crazy party... . While SLEEPER rocked, the girls started dancing, on the bar.... on the tables... on the chairs... on the stage... . .

The guys who weren't dancing, were tipping the girls that were.... This could be habit forming..lol Maybe just a preview of 'Night Tripps' next gig... Thanx for all of you that came out and paid respects to Donna and supported the band, hope to see you all next time...

12-3-2004  Night Trips birthday party... whew!

As you can see from the pics, we had ALOT of fun at Night Trips. Thanx to J.P., Billy, and Buddy for having us out, it was a blast. Chaz, the MC, thanx for puttin up with us and doin a great job handlin the details. To the girls, thanx for just being you... he he he Oh, and the $20 tip for playin 'Turn the Page' was cool too... Oh, and 'Pleasure', it was my pleasure...lol Let's do this again sometime....please! Well, I guess that's about it, the pics speak for themselves.

As you can see, there were all the normal activities one might find at a gentlemans club, just done to live music by us, SLEEPER. The guy with the mic above is Chaz, the MC... Oh, and there is James gettin some help shining his guitar....LOL And, well, you get the picture. Thanx everyone for coming out and once again, thanx to Night Trips for takin it easy with us, it was our first time he he he... We'll see you all at Jiggs on New Years Eve.. till then, be safe.

1-3-2005  New Years Eve at Jiggs was great. Lots of friends and family out to bring in the new year, and we made some new friends in the process... (Hi Camille lol) Mike and Jeff from CORNERSTONE sat in and rocked on a couple of tunes, and as ususal SLEEPER rocked the place... Thanx to Charolette and Amy for their expertise at the bartender position, Jiggs and son for having us out, and the waitress (didn't catch her name) but she did a great job... Looks like MAGIC ROCK in Wichita Falls is next. Hope to see you there. Happy new year from all of us..... Adios Amigos

1-24-2005  Magic Rock was a little slow this time, however we did have a great time (even though we forgot the camera..) We met Chris and his girl Tiffany from "Tracey Music" an exclusive drum shop in the Falls (you can get lessons there too... shameless plug LOL) You can reach Chris at 940-767-3786. Chad Allen from Duncan OK. was there and hooked us up with Wall Street in Duncan OK. for a gig so be on the lookout for that one, should be alot of fun. Oh and a big thanks to Ray's family for showing up (about 7 of them..lol) we don't know what we'd do without ya'll.... Jiggs is next, so I guess we'll see you there..... I stolabanana

1-31-2005  Jiggs....again LOL Happy birthday Jamie, we're workin on Jamie's cryin, just like we said. (lucky Darrell) Back the Blue.. Leonard and his lovely British woman, you guys are always fun... Melissa took care of our 'needs', drinks that is.. he he he Rooster and Charolette, you guys are great, keep up the good work. Rays family, thanx as usual for being there. 2-07-2005  Frizzels was a great gig. A big thanx to Wayne and Lloyd for having us out. Nancy, Coelita, Shelly, Mary Beth and of course, Carol Ann (Lloyds woman), You guys were great. (If I missed anyone, sorry, kill me later) and the rest of the folks that came out, thanx to you to. We had a blast, the only problem was it was toooo short. I talked to Lloyd and he said he was gonna have us back, so stay on the lookout for that. I'm gonna have to learn some "moist" blues for a couple of the girls there though... they said they'd make it worth my time. Wonder what they meant...lol Stay tuned, same bat channel, same bat time...

4-24-2005  My apologies for not keeping you guys updated, but things have been a little hectic lately, I'll try to stay on top of things now. I'll give you a rundown on the last two months, here goes: Let's see, since Frizzels we have played two assignment parties at Sheppard Air Force base in W. Falls. They were alot of fun, but not much of a party. We did however make many new friends, good luck to all of you, especially Shawn & Josh (gardapalooza).    Next would be the Budweiser product party. That was way cool, we got to meet all the big wigs at Bud and most of the bartenders and bar owners in town... from that gig spawned our next two gigs: Cheles and Gerts. Cheles was great as usual and Gerts was outside and we froze our butts off, but thanx to all the folks who stayed outside with us... we really appreciated it...    Last, but not least was the Wall Street gig in Duncan. Wow, it was fantastic. A real stage!! Dirty dancing and lots of partying. A big SLEEPER thanx to Dusty and his lovely wife Jana for making us feel extra special (pics forthcoming) Dusty, you're a great roadie, can't wait till the Casino gig... Don, enjoy my bass (had to sell it to pay off my bar tab..lol) We'll see you all next time (28th May) I guess that about does it. We will hopefully see you all at Comanche Red River Casino next weekend. Till then, peace out.

5-06-2005  "...Comanche red river casino, we're gonna win you over..." DANG!, cant' get that out of my head...lol The casino gig was definately different... had hundreds of people there, but most everybody was busy gamblin, go figure. However, Joli from Lubbock came all the way to OK to see us, now that's dedication. (wink wink) Our adopted family (Ray's side..lol) Mom, Grandma, Gimble and Mark all came out along with, of course, Kathy and Sheila, and we had a great time and met lot's of interesting people. We gave out business-cards-o-plenty, we'll have to see what comes of all of that. Overall, it was a good gig, we had alot of fun. Ray and Kathy headed out of town for a couple of weeks and the band is taking a little break, so I guess we'll see you at Wall Street in Duncan on the 28th... Later tater 8)

p.s. here's the pics from the last three gigs, sorry it took soooo long... beat me later, I like it LOL

5-28-2005  Wall Street in Duncan was great, as usual. Duncan folks sure like to dance.... and I sure like to watch, especially those two girl one guy thangs... Mmmm mmmm good 8). A big thanx to Don for having us back, and no, I don't remember selling you my bass.... lol Have your girl call my girl, we'll do lunch.

6-10-2005  ANOTHER assignment party at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls... how kewl, these guys (and girls) must really like us. Mucho gracias to Shawn for calling us...again, and good luck to both Josh and Shawn wherever you end up. Our adopted family, Mom, Grandma, Henry, thanx for all your undying support and help... Hugs and pecks to Jennifer, David and Jamie (great break dancing by the way Jamie) for helping us set up and tear down in record breaking time..lol May all the pilots have long, safe, illustrious careers (and not get shot down too.. ) Till next time, same sleeper time, same sleeper channel!

9-17-2005  Frizzles was a Texas style blast as usual. Thanx to Wayne for havin us and Happy Bday to all of you one year older. Leesa, you soooo crazy...LOL till next time, SLEEPER out!

10-1-2005  The Miller Ranch toys for tots run was alot of fun. We made alot of new friends from Chickisha, and other than the rain trying to stop the show, we had a blast. Louise and Jamie, James forgot to get your number...LOL Thanx to everyone that helped us tear down and set up both nights due to the rain. We'll see you next year...

10-7,8-2005  Whoa, Jiggs was crazy this weekend... Lots of new faces and some old friends....Hi Mandy...(wink wink) glad you're feeling better...8) The hot oriental girl that danced on stage with us was incredible... and a special thanx to all the girls that danced and helped us have a good time. Tammy, your waitressing skills are second only to Mandy...he he he. We'll see you at the end of the month, till then, we're outta here!

First I'd like to say thanx to Jay, Shane, Allen, Dustin, Addy, Stephanie, Leonard & Elaine, Jamie & her hubby (back the blue), all booby bearers, and the crowd for making this gig alot of fun. We even made tips! Management said we'd be back next year....wooo hooo! James got most of the boob action, as usual...girls just like to try and make him smile, of course the free T-shirts helped if they could do it.... We all had a blast, and can't wait till next time. Just a note: SLEEPER is a bunch of guys who have the dubious title of 'guys who walk out of a titty bar with more money than they walked in with'... a rather prestigous title...LOL We'll see ya at Jiggs on the 29th. Peace out....

10-29-2005  If you weren't at Jigg's you missed out on a great weekend. Friday night was great...Lots of people dancing and partying (Hi Rhonda..) and just when we thought it couldn't get any better, Sat. was the Halloween costume contest... We had the tool girl (personal tools..lol) 1st place, Elsie the cow (eat more chicken) 2nd place, and the Pussy.......cat girl 3rd place. Actually the sexy nurse was my fave, but what can I say? LOL Oh, let's not forget to give honorable mention to the transvestite, he..or she...oh, whatever! was alot of fun. The 'tool' girl and him dirty dancing....Oh my!! Art, Ed, Tammy, Amy, Rob, Colleen, thanx for a great time, we hope to see you all again soon.... Later

12-7,8-2005  Duvall's was a cool gig and we ended up playing wednesday and thursday. The weather sucked so I think next time will be much better. Thanx to the Miller girls for dancing for us (loved that pole dance), Richard, Mac & Wes from the Smokin Okies, and the Duvall's staff for all the comps. Till next time.... peace out.

12-9-2005  The Denim & Lace gig in the Falls was great. We rocked the house, taking turns with 112 Ocean Avenue, a killer rock band from Wichita Falls. Lesa, LaDonna, Rob, Barbera, and the rest of you, thanx for making that gig happen, it was the bomb. Special thanx to all the extra roadies that helped tear down, we appreciate all the help. Can't wait till next time... till then........ =0)

12-30,31 2005  We brought in the new year Jiggs style again this year. As usual we had a blast. Joli from Lubbock came down, Lesa from Wichita Falls, Regina and her son, Qualanda, all the regulars and some new faces. A big SLEEPER thanx to all of you for comin out and starting 2006 with us. We'll see ya'll next time.... peace out. 80)
